12th Blossom Children Holiday Camp
The 12th edition (2019) of the 2-Day Children’s Holiday Camp dubbed “An Amazing Journey” has been concluded successfully amidst an atmosphere full of familial warmth and joy.
The campers learnt important lessons and concepts from play and went home with lots of takeaway. Their parents are extremely satisfied and touched with the outcome. Moreover, our youth volunteers who accompanied the campers throughout went home with an even fuller heart.
The first day of the camp featured a mythical story from the East, “Journey to the West”. Campers learnt that to interact well with people, one must treat them with proper manners and respect, build harmonious relationships and produce positive speech. They also learnt a lesson on the importance of being an honest person from the story of George Washington. Through a series of carefully designed games and songs, the campers are able to internalize the teachings from the Chinese Classic “Standards for being a Good Pupil and Child”. The story of “Angry Arthur” allows campers to better understand and express negative emotions which are otherwise tricky to navigate.
On the second day of the camp, it is a day of hands-on for campers. They apply the concept of filial piety which they learnt from the Chinese Classic “Standards for being a Good Pupil and Child” into good use by preparing food for their parents, folding their own clothes, packing up their books and writing a letter to show their gratitude towards their parents.
In this age of digital advancement, there is an unbalanced emphasis on the pursuit of material needs. People search for happiness endlessly through external sources and become more and more self-centered. Throughout this two-day journey with Blossom World, the campers learnt that the real treasure lies within their hearts, within their homes.

营员们在玩中学，尽兴而归，家长们满意之余也感悟良多，全程陪伴营员学习的喜悦青年关怀员更是收获满满！
儿童营的第一天营员透过绘本“西游记-五庄观偷吃人参果”学习与人相处要以礼相待，和谐共处，口出好话；透过“华盛顿砍樱桃树”的故事学习口出实话。《弟子规》谨和信的内涵就在生动的讲述，精心设计的游戏和歌曲中让营员深刻领纳入心。绘本“生气的亚瑟”更让营员具体的理解和表达难以捉摸和言喻的负面情绪。
儿童营在第二天刻意营造出让营员身体力行的环境，让他们亲手为父母准备饮食、折衣服、整理书本、写家书感恩父母，落实了《弟子规》的孝悌谨信。
这时代数码科技发达，以功利为主，过度追求物质，人们不断往外寻求快乐满足自心，变得很自我。喜悦带着孩子从心出发，经历了两天的寻宝旅程。结果，真正的宝藏在哪里？就在自己心中，就在自己家中！
