Be empowered mentally!

“How are you?” “How have you been?”

These are common conversation starters especially during the circuit breaker period when we are more concerned about how everyone else is doing.

Emotions are part and parcel of our lives. We feel different types of emotions everyday. Common experiences are:

Feeling stressed and anxious.

Constantly bothered by negative thoughts.

How can I handle the emotions that I having now?

What can I do to help with others who are struggling with their emotions?

We hope that we can share ways to manage your emotions and not be overwhelmed by them.

On 30th May, we collaborated with Carecorner - INSIGHT to run a webinar on the topic of Emotional Regulation. Really happy to hear from our youth leaders on how much they have gained from the session. Hence we are requesting for another one.

Sharing from our Leaders:

I feel that this lesson is very useful for most people, as it really sheds a light on how we usually see emotions as – negative and unwanted, but actually they are very important, to the point that it is vital for our survival. I think most of us do not realise it. We tend to be afraid of being emotional, as sometimes we may feel it makes us weak, or that we cannot control it. However, through this session, we can learn several ways we can manage our emotions, and that even the ability to identify and label what we are currently feeling, will help us understand it and better regulate it. It is also a very good reminder that all of us feel emotions, and it is ok to feel that way, and it is also ok to share with others what we are currently feeling, so that we can communicate to others what are our needs, wants, expectations and triggers, and allow others to understand us better.

It is helpful since now I know I should not consciously stop myself from feeling “negative” emotions because those can lead to suppression. Instead, I should recognise my thoughts and emotions as how they are, and cope my emotions with healthier methods.
