Martin strongly believe that leadership development is an on-going lifelong process. Having a positive mindset and the competency for constant self reflection, self analysis and self correction are crucial.

Since his academic years, Martin has been given the opportunity to be school leader and held few key appointments in various student clubs. With proper guidance and mentorship, his leadership potential and capability was further developed throughout his personal and career life.

His leadership competency was recognised in different phases of his life. Martin was appointed as an Officer Commander (OC) during his army and reservist period. His dedication has earned him to be the NSman of the Year in 2001, 2003 and 2007 in his National Service formation. He has also successfully mentored 18 batches of student executive committees in Singapore Polytechnic (SP) Student Club and has received an Outstanding Alumni Award during SP 60th anniversary.

In addition, Martin volunteered actively as a Tae Kwon Do (TKD) instructor and held key appointment in Toastmaster Movement as Area governor. He is currently the president of one of SP Alumni Groups and a Youth Development Director of Blossom World Society (BWS). Martin has wide experience in the Banking and Financial sector. Throughout his career life, he assumed various management roles such as Group Sales Manager, Branch Manager, Senior Team Head and Senior Consultant.

Although he has already obtained an MBA, Martin strong faith in contributing back to the society has further inspired him to pursue a Degree in Social Work with SUSS. He is also happily married and is a proud father of 3 lovely children!
